I think all the candidates for the government post should go through the lie detector test.
Any mayor, congress man, senators, presidents, should go through lie detector test. And the results must be open to public prior to the elections.
Questions must includes:
Are you subject to bribery ? Did you commited any before ?
Have you used illegal drugs ?
Did you ever commited adultery ?
Have you ever commited any felony crime even you have not been caught ?
Have you ever knowingly watch child porn ? or commited any indecent acts toward children and minors ?
We may not hold it against them in court but at least we hope to catch some lying son/daughter of b**ches.

Most answer suggested that these career liars will
pass the test anyhow.
But at least we can catch those ain't even good enough to pass.
Sometimes you can't even believe some stupid guy will get elected at all. Most voters are suckers and blind suckers.

Lie detectors tests are good for candidates so that the liars will be disqualified or not voted for.

So many of them are sociopaths. They would have no problem at all fooling a lie detector. This would make the test useless.
A background check printed in the newspaper would work better.
Have you ever seen the list which is going around on the net?
Our congressmen have been through bankruptcies, have rotten credit, have been arrested for domestic violence or drunk driving more than you would believe possible. Yet they get elected again and again and again and.....

I don't think a lie detector test will prove anything , a good liar will pass the test and since most of them are pretty good liars ....

Nah. These guys are so good at it, they can even fake out a lie detector. Besides, a large group of lower IQ voters will base their votes on a machine that can be 'tweaked'.

You are asking for some very empty state houses.
Polygraph tests are not admissible in court for a reason.
They are not reliable, so how can you rely on them?
