Absolutely not. Amazingly, the minimum wage has become a hot issue for politicians. It is an introductory wage and is not intended to be enough for one to live the "good life." People need to start somewhere and work their way up from there. Increasing the minimum wage without increases in productivity is a recipe for fewer jobs and lower company earnings. Government needs to get out of the way and not use the private sector as their instrument for providing welfare.

You have to look at this from a business owner's point of view. When you raise the minumum wage, and the economy is good, small and big business's alike can take the blow. But when the economy is bad, small business's tend to suffer and then start cutting employees to compensate for the losses, which in turn then comtribute to unemployment. Big businesses (such as Wal-Mart) can handle shifting wage changes, but it's the small businesses that make up the nightlife and the downtown sector of your town/city.

No. I think the Fed actually has the dibs on this one, btw.

Aside from the Supremacy issue, raising the minimum wage doesn't do anything to help the working poor. Costs go up. That's it.

Every time the minimum wage goes up so do the cost of goods. The rise in the price of goods, nullifies the raise in wages. Sounds good in principal, but reality dictates.

No. If you don't understand the economic repercussions from a government forced wage, an answer here on yahoo won't change your mind. It's only a smokescreen to get lower income earners to vote for a particular party.

Yes, to level the playing field. Republicans dont realize they are voting against themselves whenever a republican is in office. Tax cuts almost always require raising the level of debt within our country and never affects ones income...unless you are unbelievably wealthy.

Most definately. The cost of living or self support has risen dramatically and in order to meet these expenses, one's income must also be increased. If not, one must turn to welfare or government aid, thus creating a greater demand on government expenditure.
