This book is probably the most informative and practical guide on the subject of acid reflux and heartburn that I have ever read https://tr.im/HeartburnHolistic
I was prescribed Lansoprazole which was brilliant but after two years of aching joints, extreme muscle pain which the doc gave me cortisone jags for, with some research I discovered the drug Lansoprazole was causing these rare side effects but it was I who diagnosed it NOT my doctor, I came off the drug 2 months ago, changed my diet and discovered just eating an apple stops any acid reflux, I eat an apple before bed, brilliant no acid, any time I feel the slightest sign of reflux I simply eat an apple.
Apple juice is not that good nor is anything else I have tried including honey at stopping reflux.
Apple is a god send for keeping acid at bay, brilliant.

I have been suffering from painful acid reflux symptoms that doctors found difficult to diagnose. Needless to say, pills and antacids didn’t cure me and the relief was temporary and sometimes insignificant.

I used to be hooked on junk food, Tums and Pepto Bismol. I had suffered badly from severe acid reflux, chest pains and bloating to the point when I begged my doctor to be hospitalized. https://tr.im/HeartburnTreatment

Both baking soda and vinegar are good for getting rid of heartburn. I've used both, but the baking soda tastes better. I use two teaspoons of baking soda in about four ounces of water, or one teaspoon of vinegar. (Baking soda in water also helps stop nausea). As far as otc remedies, I find that Tums Extra Strength works really good. The new Tums Extra Strength Smoothies are easier and quicker to chew. I like the Cocoa and Cream flavor, although the fruit flavor is all right.

When everything is not closed go to the health food store and get...apple cider vinegar with "mothers" If it burns you are getting too much acid in your diet. If it doesn't burn you are not getting enough acid in your body.
It is not expensive either.
When you have nothing else use alittle bit of baking soda in water.

I have a friend who used to be beleaguered with heart burns (allegedly a painful experience around the chest area) for quite a good while. Consultations with medical practitioners didn't seem to have alleviated her condition. Then a friend told her to drink tepid Seven Up soft drink (sorry, this is NOT intended to advertise that drink!). Just a few mouthfuls, not an entire bottle, good enough for her to burp. Voila! After she burps, her chest pains would vanish. After she got the hang of burping, she shifted to drinking lukewarm water mixed with a small amount of sugar. That too would enable her to burp and "drive" away the heart burn. Finally, she did away with the sugar mixture when drinking warm water. Now she gets a heartburn attack very seldom. It seems to me that the escaping of gas by burping did the trick for her. She has shared that technique with other people who experienced heartburn. Apparently, it worked for them, too. Maybe it's not really the soft drink nor the sugar mixed with warm water that did the trick but the burping that was triggered by drinking warm water that "cures" the heartburn.
