Don't expect to start at the top. Work your way up, while you are in school. I was a cashier and then I became a bookkeeper at a bank before I was acepted into an accounts payable position. Today I do payroll for 2,000 employees in a large corporation, and the degree would be needed to continue up from here. I think sometimes young people expect to start out in a high paying position right out of school, and the reality is that you need to start out small and gain experience. Starting now, while your in school is a great idea!

I know you want to get paid but have you thought of volunteering or doing an apprenticeship at a financial institution for just a while to get some experience? Sometimes what we give away, even time ,comes back 10 fold. Just a chance to meet someone and make an impression and also something to put on the next resume.

Why not apply for a teller position at a bank? It's a retail setting but still in the financial industry and you can work your way up to personal banker, mortgage lender, etc. Build bridges and you will eventually get where you want to be. Good luck to you!
