IF you want your kid to be behind for their age...all steps in education are vital. EVEN at that age, its just as important as 4th or 8th or 12th grade. You need to get those first steps in order to take the next. so YES. without requirements these days not much would get done(and if you believe otherwise, you've given into your own bullshhit).

No. Many parents and home-care providers do a fine job of teaching children the same things that would be learned in preschool.

attendance at preschool is required for the social inter action of the child as the foundation to a responsible citizen.

I think it should be required. Most kids in kindergarden already went to preschool so they will be used to being in school. A kid that has been to preschool will have advantage over those who havent

no my wife is an at home mom and our sons know just as much as our niece that is in preschool. I think preschool is more for getting your child use to other children other than family.

That's crazy. I never went to preschool. All they do is play. I started first grade when I was five.

Required no, publicly funded and optional, sure thing. It is one way to let the poor kids get a head start along with the middle and upper class kids.

If the child is enrolled, yes. That teachs them structure of what is ahead for the next 12 years to come.

No. The science is rather divided here and I am not convinced that the fade out effect is not real, as many social scientists are. In fact, that is the divide; between social science and science.

No, definitely not. Kids have 13 years of school... and only 5 years to be a baby.... let them have it.
