I do - since I have a tendency to set it too high. I also turn it off a couple hours after going to sleep because I'm convinced I'm going to burn the house down. I'm over paranoid.

Wow, I haven't had an electric blanket in years. I think that I became convinced that having an electrical current so close to my body was bad for me. Is this just New Age paranoia?

On the really cold nights I do preheat the bed though. I used to use a hot water bottle, but now I use a microwaveable ceramic heating pad. The down comforter acts as insulation, so it stays warm for a long time and the bed is quite toasty by the time I slip into it.

I had one long time ago but gave it due to the wires/heating elements causing discomfort. I keep my thermostat set at 62-64 in the winter depending on if have been in the cold most enough of the day to permeate all the way into the bone. Upon arriving home those days. I will turn the finance from either off or 50 up to 64. if it is one of those chills that is extreme then I will make a fire in the fireplace. Not that I'm cheap and I also have a heat pump which keeps energy bill down, highest ever in the winter was 70 some dollars. Yet in the winter I prefer it cold and in the summer I go to 76-78. I feel the climate in my home should reflect the season and I'm frugal. When I sleep I turn it down to 54-56....speaking of when you sleep....Where do your fingers go? What do your fingers know? What do your fingers know?'.....ahhhh ahhhh a ah

that is first question that really made me think...like you know she is right would you preheat the bed? and you know what I think Turtle Girl? I think that it depends on the person..if someone has used an electric blanket thier entire life im sure that they would have discoverd that its better to preheat. But someone who is a novice to electric blankets like you and I, might not realize it at first

When I lived up north I did. Well my mom did it for me, I was only 11. My parents live in Texas and have these electric bed pad things with adjustable heat settings. They both have back problems so they say it feels real nice on those nights when it aches the most.

I don't usually turn it on unless it is under 30 degrees. I always preheat the bed.

Hello,

Well i do have electric blankets...
But i never even use them...
I much rather have the company of a lady to jump in the cold bed with me so we can warm it up together...

Thank You

Yes I do! So when I get in bed, it's nice and warm and I fall asleep, but it's set on a timer so it stays on for a couple of hours, then shuts itself off, so I don't get too hot.
