If you take a random group of as few as 23 people, there is better than a fifty per cent chance that two of them will have the same birthday. This is assuming that the same number of people are born each day of the year. However, more people are born during the warm months than in the cooler months, which makes the probabilty even higher.
Here's how it works:
The chance of any one person being born on any given day is one out of 365. The chances of two people born on the same day is 2/364. Three people--3/363 Four people--4/362
Five people --5/361 and so on. Once you reach 21 or 22, the odds are good that any two will have the same birthday.
Add all these fractions together and you will see what I mean, as their total will be more than one half.

In all my years I have only encountered one person (a co-worker) to have the same birthday as me. But if you count other people celebrating their birthdays at a bar or restaurant whom I've only encountered once, many each year.
I guess it depends on what qualifies the term "similar" as compared to what? And out of how many?

most people would think it would be 1/365, but when you really think about it, more people are probably born in specific months like november (9 months after valentines day)... so your answer would probably be more like 1/300 or 1/250.

Most likely 1/365

I really think that more than one person in the world, if not at least one person in your country has the same birthday as you.
