I personally think Ragan was the best president we have ever had in my life time, if you don't like him please tell me why, He saved us from being attacted and taken over by the Russians in the 80s when our congress and senate wanted to give in to them, he built up our nation to its highest level during his terms, He made Americans be proud to be Americans , Clinton slid in on his coat tails and didn't change any thing Ragan had implemented Clinton was a good president only because of that,

Yes, I admired and liked him very much. He was an excellent communicator and the first President I voted for as the first time I was able to vote. I even watched all the pomp and circumstance after his death as he was buried at sunset, so storybook-like. He made me so proud to be an American.

Ronald Reagan was an opportunist.

In the 50's, when he was a Democrat, he was the president of the Screen Actors Guild.

The Screen Actors Guild was thick with commies, and everybody that was in the Guild knew it.

When Reagan was asked what he knew, he said he didn't know anything about all those commies.

Come on now! He was the president but he knew nothing?

Nancy was found to be one of those card carrying, tythe paying commies, by the way.

That's where they met.

He was the first divorced president in American history yet he preached family values.

When Reagan decided to enter politics he couldn't get anywhere with the Democrats because the Democrats had his number, and knew that he was nothing but a mere opportunist.

So, the man turned Republican and he was greeted with open arms by the greedy warmongers.

When he was governor of California he signed the bill that legalized abortion here in California.

The entire 8 years he was president he denied that there was such a disease as AIDS, so no government funds were allocated for research, treatment nor prevention.

Thousands of men, women and children died of this horrible disease while Ronald Reagan stood by and did nothing.

After the outbreak of the Trading Arms for Hostages scandal and he was being questioned in front of a grand jury, he answered every question asked with "I don't recall."

Come on now! He was president yet he knew nothing?

The plans were being made for trading arms for hostages, otherwise known as "Contra-gate" in the basement of the White House while Reagan supposedly slept.

He didn't even know what was going on in the basement where he slept.

I beleive because of his answers to the grand jury that he was suffering from Altzheimer's while he sat in the White House.

He always had that "Empty shell" look on his face.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is getting that same look in his face.

He is looking more an more like Reagan everyday.

So, to answer your question, Ronald Reagan was an extremely lousy leader!

Sorry, but Reagan did an awful job with the economy.
I remember, if your license plate ended with an even number,
you could only get gas on the even numbered days &
vice versa. I remember the line for gas was about a half a
mile long.
It was like it is now, if you don't have tons of money,
you're screwed.

Clinton balanced the budget & did alot of things to try to catch
terrorists, but because there were so many Republicans
in his administration, they shot down alot of his ideas.
Mostly, because they were too focused on Monica.

not at all and mainly because he drove our country into debt with his policies. Much like today your children and quite possibly your children's children will still be paying for this debt and much of it is owed to China. It is just common sense you cannot pull in less income(such as tax cut) spend more (on war) and continue to run on borrowed money. How long would you last if you adopted this irresponsible financial behavior

Ronald Reagan once said, "It's true hard work never killed anybody, but I figure, why take the chance?"

Can someone that says something like that be a good leader?

Reagan was great, he broke the Soviet Union, built a strong military, cut taxes and best of all he dealt with threats to this nation head on.

Heck, he had Jelly Belly jelly beans hid on the Space-shuttle for a little surprise for the Astronauts. That has to be a good leader. He was a Leader and still a good person too.

The Bad: Reaganomics. This so-called economic concept of Ronald Reagan was that if you cut taxes you would increase Federal Revenues since economic activity would increase. The increase in economic activity would bring with it increased Federal tax revenues. In other words the tax cut would be self liquidating and self paying since any lost revenues for the moment would almost immediately be made up by increased revenues in the future. It didn't cost anything, therefore, to lower taxes and the economy would be stimulated to new heights.
Reaganomics Key Points:
The national debt when Ronald Reagan took office was about $1 trillion. That included in it all the debt run up for the Revolutionary war, the Spanish-American war, the Civil war, World War I, World War II, the Korean war, the Vietnam war and all the Social wars of the 1930's and subsequent years. In other words it took the United States from 1776 until 1980 or more than 200 years to accumulate a national debt of $1 trillion.
Ronald Reagan left us a national debt of about $3.5 trillion or $3,500 billion.
Given the spending habits established by the legacy of Ronald Reagan the national debt is now a little over $7 trillion!
The interest cost on the national debt now runs about $318 billion a year! When Ronald Reagan took office they were about $53 billion a year.

When Ronald Reagan was governor of California he systematically began closing down mental hospitals, later as president he would cut aid for federally-funded community mental health programs. It is not a coincidence that the homeless populations in the state of California grew in the seventies and eighties. The people were put out on the street when mental hospitals started to close all over the state.

Seeing an increase in crime, and brutal murders by Herb Mullin, a mental hospital patient, the state legislature passed a law that would stop Reagan from closing even more state-funded mental health hospitals. But Reagan would not be outdone. In 1980, congress proposed new legislation (PL 96-398) called the community mental health systems act (crafted by Ted Kennedy), but the program was killed by newly-elected President Ronald Reagan. This action ended the federal community mental health centers (see timeline on this link) program and its funding.

Iran-Contra. Look it up. Basically, it involved violating federal law by trading in war materiel with the Iranians and the Contra rebels in Nicaragua.

President Reagan ignored the health crisis caused by AIDS.

SDI. Reagan spent billions on the boondoggle of an "anti-missile shield". Which, incidentally, violated the ABM treaty, in addition to wasting a lot of money.

Budget deficits grow from about $20B in the late 70s to about $150B in the mid 80s. Reagan more than tripled the national debt.

Reagan told Surgeon General C. Everett Koop to produce
a report detailing the long-term physical and emotional trauma a woman suffered as a result of having an abortion. Koop, an abortion foe, but a good scientist, discovered that, in fact, a woman did not suffer long-term physical or emotional trauma as a result of having an abortion. Reagan suppressed the report.

Reagan provided Saddam Hussein with chemical weapons.

Reagan's tax restructuring (massive cuts in 1981, followed
by tax increases in 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, and 1987)
transferred tax burden from corporations and the wealthy to
the middle class and, especially, the working class poor.

When a Marine barracks was blown up by terrorists in Lebanon, Reagan responded...by pulling American forces out of Lebanon and invading the small Caribbean island of Grenada.

Reagan's attorney general was Ed Meese, who was investigated
by three different special prosecutors for involvement in three
different scandals. Over 100 Reagan appointees were convicted
of crimes committed while in office.
