No, another huge mistake by Sony. Both XBox's have great online play because of Xbox Live, which was available at launch both times as opposed to PS2 which didn't have online play for atleast a year after launch. Xbox live is successful because it is intuitive, lag isn't a huge issue, and it's easy to use. Even though you have to pay for live, its definitely better than what PS2 has and what PS3 will have. The issue is that Sony decided to leave online play up to the developers, instead of centralizing everything. This means game companies control online play. Companies may choose to not require broadband, which would cause lag. Also, product downloads won't be so readily available, and download speeds will definitely be slower because game companies won't want to put the money down for bandwidth. Also, Xbox Live Arcade is a really fun feature, and there will be nothing similar for PS3's online service. Another problem with PS3's online service is every game's online screen will look different, the process to enter games will differ, the entire process will differ from game to game. This is a huge issue and a huge mistake that sony made. The answer is no.

Nope, it'll just cost a lot more. I'm sure PS3 will have great graphics, I just don't think they'll really be that much better than anything that the 360 if offoring, so I don't know how many people will be willing to put a bunch of money down on a brand new machine that can't beat the 360. I know that Nintendo, and I believe Sony as well have sold some of their "classic" characters/games to microsoft, for the reason that the 360 is so hard to beat, and it's a way to make some money without having to go out and try to make a comparable or better system. I just think any other system is going to have to offur a heck or a lot to be considered by a buyer.
