I'm about to tell the difference between them, but are they really similar in some way?

THe similarity seems to be that both assert that the human is a social animal and will therefore restrain his/her wants and behaviours in order to comply with social-culture customs. The difference seems to be that 'social control bond' asserts that people are influenced by the positive benefits of being socailly accepted, while deterrence is focused on the disbenefits of being socially excluded.

BQ: I learned how to play guitar a year before I ever actually played one. I didn't have strings on my first guitar, so I actually learned through playing air guitar. I'd sit in my room practicing the pentatonic scale without actually having a guitar. lol EDIT: I did the same for drums too, piano I only picked up because of prior musical knowledge, I figured that once I knew what notes were where, I could play just fine, and I was right. MQ: nothin, I was blairing megadeth a little bit ago, but not anymore.

Don't they have the same goal, just a different method ?
Isn't one using the carrot and the other the stick ? (reward or punishment)
