either your boyfriend is on speakerphone, and you always hear yourself through his phone, or sometimes the phone, especially cell phones, have the mic on speaker on the phone too close together, and there for there is that echo effect for some calls, and I am sure you know that it is very annoying

He probably have you on the speaker or he's on the toilet(For some reason the bathroom has an echo).

He might have his earpeace in, or on speakerphone, or someone else is listening to your conversation.
