It depends on what about it makes you nervous. VERY few people Don't get some butterflies so a certain nervousness is completely normal. The most important thing is knowing your lines backward and forward, knowing your part so cold that even if another actor freezes up or blows a line you can work around it. in many, maybe most theatres you can;t really see the audience because of the lights and you don't look at them much. Sometime I forget they are there and get startled when they laugh or react to something.
one thing that help me get over it is going to a bar and singing Karaoke where no one knew me. I went to a place far from where I lived. And the first few times I BOMBED but I kept going and got better and finally went to a bar near my house and now I'm the best singer there, do requests and such. like anyone with a fear you have to just suck it up and go out there and face it.

I was in drama in high school. I have the biggest case of stage fright. I honestly think that most people are scared. The thing that got me through it was convincing my self that it didn't matter what people thought. The fright comes from adrenalin. I would say go with it. I am so shy and before I got on stage I wouldn't try to fight the fear I would use it and have fun with it. In your drama class or club no one will judge you because they are all going through the same thing. As for the audience use the adrenalin and fear and put it into your acting and have fun with it.Its a rush. Hope I could help.

Don't let fear rule your life or you may not do certain things because of something. You have the power within you to do whatever you set your mind to do. If you think you cannot do something, then you won't be able to. It is that simple. Sometimes all it takes is training yourself to think a certain way, a mind over matter if you will. But decide you can do something, and you will be able to. If you love to sing and dance, then go for it. The more you are on that stage, and the more confident you become being on stage, the less you will fear it. A lot of it has to do with confidence. Be confident in yourself that you can do it and you will be able to do it. There's a saying "fear it, but do it anyway. " That's my advice to you.

Everyone is nervous at first, and turn out to do great! Just practice. It helps, but the nervousness won't fade. It's natural. part of being a human being. I've been in 2 school plays before. At first, i was nervous. But right after i started singing or whatever, it all went away!
hope I helped and good luck!

Everyone is scared when they have to perform in front of an audience, its natural. If possible dont look anyone in the eyes. Look just above there heads at a wall or other inanimate object. Act like there not even there or imagine there all sitting there in there underwear but dont laugh, lol.

Get so involved with what you're doing that you become the character and there really isn't an audience out there then because it's all real.

Just realize that when your nervousness causes you to mess up on stage, the entire school is going to laugh at you.

harness the butterflies, then let them loose. they will fly to ypur fingers and fly to your toes. when your fingers and toes flutter you will look excited rather than nervous. when you look excited the audience will get interested. when the audience is watching, you are "ON STAGE"
