The elderly work and pay in to this country all of their lives and they diserve to live decent and have the medicine they need to not be in pain during their golden years. Anyone who works as long as they do to take care of their country deserves not to have any worries.

In previous models of "civilization" the churches took care of the needy. There are too many people on our planet for this to work. Perhaps if communities happened again, where people cared for their own, we could get away from this. We live in such a wierd, mixed up time. The government medical care includes Viagra, but not always preventive methods of birth control. It is easier to have more children and get welfare than get a job. Many people are more concerned with Animal Rights than with the fact that there are hungry children in their own communities. Actors and sports stars are valued more than the people who teach our children in school or care for our loved ones in nursing homes. It would be interesting to hear what both our founding fathers and the historians of the future have to say about this mixed up world.

Because the government is taking money out of social security to pay for other things one being the war,and selling bonds to replace it,robbing peter to pay Paul.

The gov't SHOULD NOT!!! The gov't is too big now. Taking more of my money to misspend will only weaken our country. We have been enabling entire generations to sit on their butts and not holding them accountable for their actions or lack of action. Liberals are creating a cash cow that can never be filled. Only when there are more people taking than giving will they wonder what went wrong. UNFORTUNATELY IT WILL THEN BE TOO LATE TO CORRECT.

No, let the big corporations take all the billions in tax write offs. Forget ordinary tax paying citizens. They never need support or emergency help in life anyway.

Greater funding = greater taxes (that's where all the federal $$ comes from), except for work comp . . . that is a state fund that is built on the workers contributions from deductions in their paycheck. The work comp is based on YOUR pay and the deductions they've taken out for you.
