An ultrasound at that stage of pregnancy is generally accurate, but like most medical procedures, the expertise of the person conducting the ultrasound can influence it's accuracy. Ultrasounds are usually performed at 20 weeks and usually determine the sex of the baby and confirm that the placenta is healthy and attached normally and that your baby is growing properly in the uterus. The baby's heartbeat and movement of its body, arms and legs can also be seen on the ultrasound.
If you have concerns about the accuracy of your ultrasound or have concerns about the health of your child, newer ultrasounds are now available that show a three-dimensional view of the fetus. This is similar in clarity to a photograph and can be useful in detecting birth defects when performed in a reputable medical center with staff that are well trained in this procedure. Some facilities are providing this scan at the parents' request without a specific medical indication. A moving picture interpretation is referred to as a 4-D ultrasound.

A more important question is: "How good is the technician at reading the images?" The ultrasound itself is pretty accurate. The person reading/interpreting might not be that accurate

Ultrasound is accurate as long as the technician knows what they are doing and can get a good view of the fetus.

fairly accurate but it really depends on the skill of the person doing the ultrasound and the mothers make up. If she is obese it can be hard to see things clearly

Oh it should be pretty accurate. I had my ultrasound at 20 weeks and EVERYTHING was visible. So since your at 25 weeks...it'll be a piece of cake to view your baby.

Ultrsound used in present days are very accurate and have a lot of high end technology used in them so u need not worry about the safety aspects.Yes about getting accurate results, it depends on the operator and his/her experience to get a sharper image on the display.

gender of baby is pretty accurate, but not 100%. For determining the size of the baby (at any gestation age) not accurate at all. My doc wouldn't even guess at the size of my baby.
