Well, according to what I have been taught (and hold as my own belief), God's call is completely irresistible to those he calls (come on, he is omnipotent if you hold to the whole Bible and believe it is inerrant). So, basically he doesn't call those who are not Christians, but those he calls choose Him because he is God and has created them with a longing that can only be filled by Him so they would naturally cling to Him if given the chance. This is were it gets sticky though. People will say that it is totally unfair (and it is by human standards) that God only chooses certain ones. The only way that I have found to really reconcile this is to know that I really didn't deserve to be called by Him because I am a jerk and a sinner, in fact everyone is this way, so I am blessed that He decided to show mercy to me by calling me one of His children. If you need more you can e-mail lala98916. I would also read Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis, it explains the basic beliefs held by Christians (what most of you would call ultra-conservative...not really mainstream) regardless of denomination. I highly suggest you read it before you make assumptions about what Christians believe by what you read or listen to from those who don't see it in a favorable light.

It is because it is impossible to prove His existence, and, while He is not disprovable, it is very unlikely for Him to exist.
For example, I can argue for the existence of unicorns, faeries, Santa Claus, and vampires with the same arguments that believers of God use. All of them cannot be disproven, but it is obvious that it's very unlikely for them to exist.
If actual scientific proof is given to point to the existence of a god, then sure, I'll consider changing my opinion. However, until such a thing occurs, I'll keep believing He does not exist, thanks.
As for my current opinion, it can be summed up in a quote from Robert M. Pirsig:
"When one person suffers from a delusion, it is called insanity. When many people suffer from a delusion, it is called Religion."
In a similar vein, there is a quote from Friedrich Nietzsche:
"A casual stroll through the lunatic asylum shows that faith does not prove anything."
As for the "His call" part... It doesn't make sense. We call people who hear voices in their heads insane. So, does that mean that if they suddenly proclaim that voice to be God it makes them suddenly an icon, even if they're just suffering under a delusion similar to one that people suffering from severe paranoia are under?

Maybe is because God is on a very long vacation, is not taking calls either, no faxes ,no cells,no phones ,no t.v. nor radio or even instant messaging and no blimps in the sky.And just if in case you don't know he has very cruel sense of humor.

I never hear the call of God, but I hear the call of religious peoples who want my money and my soul.

I think that they are stories to teach us, not necessarily true. Jonah runs away and can't face G-D or his word. The golden calf incicdent all are done to show how close G-d can be and how stupid man is. THEY ARE SUGGESTIONS FOR US TO KEEP CLOSE TO HIM AND NOT STRAY.
