My 13 y/o gets about 7 hours a night and it caught up to him this week. He goes to bed at 10 pm and has to get up a 5 am as his mother has to be at work at 6:45 am. Anything less that 8 hours is not enough.

I am 14 years old and I need at least 10 hours of sleep. Usually if I (and my friends) go to bed real late (i.e. 3am) I need more sleep than if i go to bed at an earlier hour like 10. You said that it is only during the week, i feel as though conistentcy is what makes sleep. My sleep schedule jumps around because of weekend, on sunday i cant get to sleep at a decent hour at all. On a thursday night i can get to bed early because of adaption. Humans arent designed to get up at a strict hour, every one works differently at different times. If you have an inteligent child I am sure they can properly gauge their bedtime. Because they are the ones suffering from lack of sleep, not you.

Doctors recommend 9 hours for children 12-19. I know that sounds like a lot, but their bodies are still developing. Obviously, if a person needs to wake up at 8:oo a.m. they should be in bed by 11:00p.m. Wow! How lucky school doesn't start any earlier!

Go to bed by at least 10 - that should be about enough - my kid is 13 and I make him go to bed at 10 ~ unless he is irritating me than 9:30 haha ~ and he gets up at 6:30 AM for school and is plenty rested.

Everyone needs at least eight hours of sleep. I think that children should get at least 9 or 10 due to the demands on their growing bodies and minds.

9-10 hours, so 10 or 11 is good, but everybody is different, to find out how much she needs, let her sleep til she wakes up naturally and count back to when she fell asleep When she wakes up naturally, that's when she's had enough sleep.

My kids (9 & 10) go to bed at 9:30 (god knows when they actually fall asleep, much later I think). They have to get up at 7am.
