I am 25 weeks pregnant and in a few weeks plan to paint a few rooms in my house. Is it safe or should I have someone else do it? I know people paint their baby rooms, but....

Make sure the paint is low VOC or no VOC. Check paint dealers such as Sherwin Williams. Paints contain toxins and you don't want to expose yourself, your baby or the environment.

I wouldn't, but of coarse it depends on the type of paint you are using, the situtation you are in and your personal temperament. If you are the take the bull by the horns kind of gal use one of those masks that block out the bad fumes.

If you are painting a mural on the wall as I did for my number one kid, you will probably use a tempra paint which is non-toxic.

Just take all things into consideration, can you afford to have it done? Are the paints toxic? Are you having a very creative streak? Are the paints toxic? Baby comes first, but you can protect yourself and baby, if you are broke!

NO! you can not paint while you are pregnant, it is bad for the baby! really bad. i am also 25 weeks pregnant, and my parents are putting insulation in and thats even bad for the baby, so i plan to stay at my fionce's house while their doing it. like my doctor said, "what ever you breath in, the baby is breathing in" people can get high off paint and i dont think you would really want to take that chance with your little one, would you? take my advice and have someone else do it.

Make sure the room is well ventalated and be careful if you have to stand on a ladder etc to reach the high places. Take it slow so you don't overexert yourself maybe not all the rooms in one day take a few days to get the job done...

Remember with your center of gravity changed you will likely become dizzy easier with height and you will not be as sure footed on the ladder etc.. With a few extra precautions to avoid a fall and with good ventilation you can paint until you have painted the whole town red if you so choose...

My friend painted someones living room and kitchen when she was 4 months and 6 months along and she had a perfectly healthy baby. Just make sure the room is well ventilated.

If it is an acrilic or latex it is safe for you but an oil based enamel has really bad fumes and not good for you or your baby. But please have someone do the painting for you. That involves raising your arms high to reach is a risk of getting the navel cord around your babies neck. which "could" result in your baby being still born. You've come this far with your pregnancy don't take chances now! PLEASE

I painted when I was 8 mths(almost 9 mths) pregnant. I was told that I should wear the mask to prevent inhaling the fumes.

I put down tile in 4 rooms in my house (kitchen, pantry, bathroom and hallway), painted and moved furniture at 8 months...As long as you're taking breaks and not straining to reach anywhere..you should be fine...Make sure you have the ladder or chair..securely stable...not wobbly

As long as you use latex paint, it is fine. But, just in case, always check with your doctor when you are in doubt.
