Clinton was president while Republicans kept control of Congress, and there was checks and balances. With the House/Senate and the Presidency held by Republicans, there really is no checks and balances, any agenda no matter how inept is passed, and any agenda proposed by non-Republicans is thwarted. I think it will be a good thing for Democrats to take control.

I totally agree with you. And you made a good point about the Republicans were in control of the house/senate when Clinton was in office. Yet, they can't understand why he couldn't do anything about Bin Laden then......it was because they wouldn't let him!!

There are checks and balances, the court ruling unconstitutional of bushes signing statements was the checks and balances working. The court stepped in when Congress looked the other way. All the Democrats have to do to lose any possiblility of gaining seat in Congress is to become over confident or desperate and start a smear campaign.

We'll say praise the Gods! At last a system of checks and balances. Won't help with the Supreme Court, though. Bush has been rubber stamped in every action his administration has taken, and the result is chaos, world wide. War, and near war and rumors of war. Drastic debt and the U.S. nearly as divided as it was in the Civil War Era.

u have company on this. Some people think govt gridlock is great. I don't. We have issues that need to be addressed. I wish leaders from both sides would talk to each other rather than at each other. I don't see that happening any time soon. just listen to the rants of Gore, Dean, & Kennedy among others.

MrsMike, you serious about Osama? Clinton decided to not do anything, numerous times. It is not because of Republicans. Get over your hatred for Repubs, and vote democrat not because you hate the other party, but because you agree with their issues better

I don't care to see the Republicans maintain control of anything, but there are plenty of things that can and will go wrong under a Democratic regime. Renewed attacks on gun rights, socialized healthcare and rationed medicine, ever-increasing taxes . . . just to name a few.

Any and everything they have only feel good platitudes with no details of how to implement their list or how to pay for it. The only good will be to show how little ideas they have to do better.

The bad will be more tax & spend than we are already doing.

I agree. We need more balance. The system was designed to be adversarial, and it works best when it is.
