a hot topic of debate. i dont think marijuana has been proven to alleviate pain in a laboratory environment. I've heard that some studies were released in regard to glaucoma. regardless, california seems to deem it effective, its been legalized at the state level for years.

as for the comment above, the government would not neccessarily jump to legalizing marijuana with proof of pain relief. Legalization of marijuana at a federal level would have tremendous social and economic implications that would need to be evaluated long after a positive lab test.

I hate it when people talk about marijuana, and don't know the facts! It's not a drug! It's an herb! It does help nausea, and increases the appetite, which is why it's prescribed to cancer and Aids patients. It does slow the progression of glaucoma. It can be of use when dealing with chronic pain, simply because of it's calming effects on the brain. No it isn't a cure all, but it's not a bad thing either!

It depends on the pain, that is why it is considered medicinal only under certain medical conditions. Cannibus is not an opiate so there is not a message in your brain being sent to your body to numb it. Just like when some one smokes it, it makes them relaxed. That applies for all the fat cells in the body, so anything containing fat now has THC in it. Possibling alleviating any pain

It's definately not a cure-all for pain. It does make you feel good...usually, though it pretty much wipes out your motivation or efficiency...and then you feel bad because you wasted precious time. But, over time, excessive use of pot will deplete your melatonin levels and make you depressed.

Marijuana has the medical use of inhibiting nausea and increasing appetite in chronic or acute disease which include vomitting or loss of appetite.

It's another drug that makes you stupid. When you're stupid you fail to register reality, which may pass for feeling good.

id say both. its proven to help prevent/help cure a number of diseases, not to mention its a great pain reliever. buts it has some negative side affects too. so what it really comes down to is weather or not its worth it.

If it were a cure all, the government would legalize it and let pharmaceutical companies sell it.
