You can take writing classes at a community college.

First you need to learn how to write. It is "an author" not and author. Next just find what it is you want to write about. Write a small draft and send it out. Good Luck..

Do some serious writing and submit it for review. The website I use is brilliant as it gives opinions about your work by published authors and publishers. Give it a try and who knows, you may become a best selling writer !!

Begin writing of your personal experiences as if you intend it to be your autobiography. As you complete one short story after the next, put them in chronological order and soon you'll have the makings of an author.
Taking it one step further, as I'm sure you'll get tired of writing "I did this," and "I did that," you can create fiction stories based on your true experiences by inserting your own characters with all their attributes and flaws. With this step, you can take your story off on a dozen tangents because the story is fiction and you're the creator.
Above all, edit for grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Get in the habit of this important feature in being an author.
Also, know the difference between the words 'and' and 'an' as indicated in your question.

Learn how to write in English:
"......to become and author?"
It should read: "......to become AN author?"

Find a need. One good way is through volunteering with an organization that has a bookstore, such as a state park. They often need specialty books written and will assist in having them published.
