what type of training, how long, how much college, income etc.?

anesthesiologist is a specialized field in medicince. so you would have to go 4 yrs. of undergraduate, 4 yrs. of medical, then a couple of yrs. internship, fellowship, residency, etc...pretty much your 20's. as far as the job description, it's not very "exciting". it's 99.9% boring, 1% panic, in a sense. you can pretty much do crosswords during the entire operation. like any type of doctor, the money is good, i'm guessing approx. 300K./yr. depending on the location and hospital.

Anesthesiologist is an MD in the field.
The new thing is CRNA - certified nurse anesthetist
Several of them can work under a group of Dr.s - you know the money thing.
To get into school for it is hard and generally comes only after a period of time in skilled nursing - ER ICU etc
but the money is good
