Actually I think your experience is pretty typical, and am not sure why it was ok for you and not ok for other people. I knew I was bisexual at an early age, experimented with both genders, grew up to have several long term relationships with men, including a marriage with children, and now have found my life partner who is female. I've never been confused, you don't sound like you were confused. And, like it or not, being GLBT is normal to those who are, and since you are a bisexual woman who is heterosexually identified, you should know that better than most.

I think everyone experiments with the opposite sex growing up, girls more so than boys. It certainly doesn't mean you are gay. Being gay is a feeling inside of you that you were born with. I don't actually think a gay person wakes up one morning and thinks "hey I think I'm going to be gay" I think a lot of people try and suppress these feelings because even today there is still a lot of prejudice around especially towards gay men. My sister told me she was a lesbian when she was 14. I was 13 at the time and I wasn't even surprised I think I always knew she was. She is 36 now and I always think of her as the original lesbian. She is certainly no butch dyke and she has a wonderful girlfriend. Her sexuality has been totally accepted by our family and friends but it hasn't all been rosy I know growing up for her was very difficult. I certainly don't think of her as not being normal... what is normal? While some people of today are just experimenting at being "gay" the reality is a lot of them will choose a "normal" life because its is without prejudice.

I don't think that society/media has influenced them. I think society/media has made it easier for people to be themselves. I think for some they know that they are different from the other when they are young, or they know they are gay, and some don’t find out until they are older. And NO they are not being convinced that they are gay. That is just plain crazy talk. And adolescents are confused in all areas of their life

I think there is definately an influence in the media, but overall I think that as a person enters adulthood they will figure out who they are sexually. I remember growing up seeing movies where two girls were making out, and the guys were like "whoa". Hopefully, people will make decisions based on their own preferences and not what society pressures them to do.

Society plays such a big part in peoples lives, its not even funny. It seems like everyone and their dogs seem to think they are gay. Its annoying and it instills thoughts in young people like "Wow she's pretty. Oh no I'm a lesbian" And also if that rumor is going around about them at school that could be getting to them.

Yes I do think that the media has something to do with convinceing people to be gay, but they have the real choice of becoming gay.

No, I think that they're just at a confusing time in their life, trying to figure out who they are. i.e., why am I here?, what is my purpose in life?, etc.
