The key here is FORMAL, but I would check with whoever is arranging this dinner for the proper attire. If it says so on the ticket Formal Wear - then Tux/Gown it should be - Prom/Wedding wear.

I wouldn't dress up too much. If you are a girl a skirt and blouse will be fine, a guy, nice slacks with dress shirt and vest maybe a tie. But for $20 ticket I would say that is not a very dressy place. That is way too cheap. As an after thought, maybe you can get by with jeans!

If you are a female, wear a pair of nice slacks and a blazer. That combination always fits in anywhere. If you are a male, wear a sports jacket and a tie. A tie is a must. Not wearing a tie is too casual looking.

Since I do not know if you are male or femaile. Your picture is just a gray smile. I will give info for both.
Think wedding. knee length dress and heals. or
dress pants and button up shirt with a tie and a jacket until after dinner.
However if it reads black tie. That means tuxedo and evening gowns, but for a $20 ticket. I would assume it is wedding attire.
Have fun and enjoy your evening.

I would suggest nice khaki slacks and a button down and jacket. Tie is optional. Loafers or nice black shoes.
** And the cost of the ticket does not dictate the attire - but rather what type of affair is this for - fundraiser, charity?

it's not like the tickets are $500.00 . so let's take a look at our social ward robe , this is cooler weather , we now can wear sweaters , velvet , warm winter cottons , suede shoes and hand bags , warm fall colors , blues , pumpkin colors , tan s. browns, reds, try gold tones , even black is always appropriate if all else fells, belts , sashes. take a look at our boots that will match or mix with your out fit ,it's easy without spending lots of money.

If tickets were only twenty bucks, go in jeans and a nice shirt. That's what I would do, but I don't do formal stuff. If you really want to get classy, then wear Dockers, or something like that.

The best thing to do if you can not rent a tux is wear the best suit you own. I you do not own a suit then be prepared to buy one. A suit would be the bare minimum you coul wear to such an event.

Wear a dark suit, shirt, tie and nice shoes. If it was a more expensive dinner you would probably have to rent a tux.

How formal can it be for $20. Don't go out and buy something new - just find something in your closet. Long black skirt and a white blouse or something.
