Got a "failure to observe traffic signal" ticket in a NJ township for making a left at a red left arrow that I didn't notice. No issue paying the ticket, I made a mistake, but in traffic court can I somehow have it reduced to a 0-point ticket of some type? I just don't want the points, that's all.

just explain to the judge that It was an honest mistake and ask if they would take into consideration that was an honest mistake (if you have a clear record and for a while)
then use his too, tell them you don't have any problems w/ traffic tickets or accidents and would they possibly consider some community service instead of the points. You can use your attorney to get your case completely dismissed off your record, even though it will cost about the same as your ticket, but you won't have to pay for the ticked when dismissed. Offer them for you to complete defensive driving course, not only for the ticket but for your insurance premiums to go down. good luck oh and you can do defensive driving on the net - i would reccommend that you complete the course to be able to show the judge you have aleady taken action to fix the situation.

In our city we are able to meet with the court appointed attorney and request traffic school ( a defensive driving class) and depending on the traffic infraction he may ask the judge for this. It will take off so many points on your license. Usually 4. I have only been there for speeding and the points were eliminated. Check with your local courts they may help you.

Don't you have the option to go to traffic school? You can call and find out. That would get rid of any points.
