That they are a fact of life just as motivators are.You know, pros cons, alpha omega, white black, positive negative. Question is what do you think about them? Do you see them as detractors or encouragers in disguise.

It depends on the intention of these people. If they discourage me because I am not capable enough to do a task, then I'll prove them wrong. But if a person discourages me from doing something that is self harming or damaging, then I will listen to him/her. In fact, I'll thank that person for stopping me before I meet with dire consequences.

If it is a friend you don't need them for a friend unless they are trying to discourage you from something that you shouldn't be doing in the first place.

I step on them. That discourages them from ever trying to discourage me again.

It really depends on what they are trying to stop me from doing. If this is someone who trying to discourage me from making a mistake, and obviously has some reasoning as to why they wish to change my direction, i think they are trying to just be helpful, and make my travels easier. For those who just wish to discourage me from making positive change, I usually think they are just trying to throw a monkey wrench in my travels, and thus i try to stay clear of thost types.

Discourage from "what?" If it's something I "shouldn't" do, then yeah, it's okay. But I figure people who try and discourage me
from something that's alright, something good & to "my" benefit, and it's a positive thing? Well, their either jealous, or are a loser & figure "I" am too.

I think they are ignorant and jealous in most cases! I recently went back to college and my father pretty much told me I was crazy! He thought I should have went and found another dead end factory job and got on with life! I think he is afraid his children will be more than he is! I think he thought it was a waste of money, even though when I'm done I will be making really good money! I think he thought I wasn't smart enough but, I'm holding a 3.97 GPA!!!!!!!!!!! I think people like that can kiss my @ss because I have no use for them!!!!!!!!!

They either:
1. Don't understand your motivations and the need you have to do the things you do (even if you will fail, sometimes you just have to try something to be at peace with yourself).
or
2. They do understand your motivations but want you to fail because they are envious/jealous and pretend to want your best when they really don't.
