Let's stop talking about pounds. Let's talk about inches.
Muscles are much more dense than fat tissue. If you're working out, chances are you're building muscles as you burn off the fat. So, you might lose inches and dress sizes and bra sizes while not gaining a pound, or even gaining some.
What you need to do is measure yourself... upper arm, tummy, hips, bust, thighs... and see if you lose inches. Women don't tend to build big muscles except in the thighs (look at tap dancers and bicyclists if you don't believe me). If you're losing inches, chances are good you're burning off fat.

I quit two years ago, gained the same ten pounds and it took me a year to get them off. Don't give up. If I could, every time I got the urge to smoke I'd go for a walk.

Yay, we quit smoking!!! Aren't we great? I didn't gain any weight but was much overweight to begin with. Now I am still overweight but can climb those stairs. Maybe you are watching everything too closely and need to cut yourself some slack. Drink more water because you probably drank more liquids with your cigarettes. (Personal experience).

Congratulations on your decision to quit smoking! Since smokers are used to having something in their hands, they tend to start eating more so they have something to occupy their fingers. Find a hobby such as sewing, knitting, or working on a puzzle to keep your fingers busy.Stick to your diet and exercise, and try to incorporate more low fat dairy products in your diet to ensure weight loss.

i think you're probably eating more, though you don't realize it, through the day to have something in your mouth and hands besides a cig.
If you want to get the truth on what you're really eating, keep a strict food journal.
