Several ways:

1) We have been committed to protecting South Korea since the 1950s and Japan since 1945. North Korea having a nuke threatens both those countries as well as the troops stationed there.

2) We have no reason to hink that North Korea will not proliferate nukes to other countries or terrorist organizations, in trade for energy or other goods.

3) By testing the device, North Korea has proven that they have the means of producing viable nukes, which means they are now a much more dangerous regime than before.

I don't buy the arguments of the people who say we are directly threatened by them sending a missile with a nuke on board. Their missiles are incapable of reaching the US, though they are capable of reaching Japan and Soutrh Korea.

Because they're a poor country with starving people and they'll sell nuclear devices to outside markets. We and our allies are worried that these devices will get into the hands of terrorists. Israel could be in great danger if Mid-Eastern terrorists acquire these devices. If the weapons can be brought into our country, say through the open Southern borders, only God knows the consequences to us.

Hmm, I'd say the fact that North Korea launched a couple missiles at the US a couple months back could have something to do with it.

Because they are trying to get a nuke and shoot it at us.
