My dwarf hamster Clover taught herself to get up onto her little house in her tank. I am afraid she will get out of the tank because it doesn't have a top and I can't get a top anytime soon. Are dwarfys smart enough to learn? I DON'T WANT HER TO ESCAPE! Am i just being paranoid?

You are not being paranoid. They are excellent climbers and jump surprising distances, learn quickly, and are natural escape artists. You really need a lid for the tank.
Use a cookie sheet for now, just put it over the top, it should be heavy enough to hold it in, or put something on top.. Also, there are aluminum foil ones of all sizes that will work, cheap too, get them at the grocery store.
Avoid cardboard, and plastic. They can chew through those. Look for glass or metal.

Yes hamsters are smart enough to learn how to climb. You need to put a cover on the top of the cage if you don't want her to escape. try to find a piece of metal sheeting or a chew proof board. Hamsters will eat through cardboard. The thing is that it doesn't have to cost anything, it could be someones throw away. Or maybe something you have around the house. Good luck

Hamsters can learn to climb out of their cages. Since you are using a glass cage it is important to use a top with air holes. A good inexpensive way to do this is to buy some chicken wire or metal screening from the hardware store (you can buy it by the foot) and bend the sides over the top of your cage, then put duct tape on the edges of the wire so you or your pet won't get scratched.
My daughter and I did this for her pet mouse cage and it works perfectly.

Hamsters are not climbers. In the wild they live on the ground and in burrows. From what you've said about the cage, I'm assuming it has glass sides, similar to a fish tank? But your hamster should not be able to get out, and you won't need to get a roof for the cage if you do not want to. If you would feel more comfortable with this, then I would recommend you get one, but Hamster shouldn't be able to get out. Good luck, and hope this helps!
