there is a recent book published on body language, and it suggests there is a hidden meaning when someone gives you a pair of glasses or sunglasses. I have browsed the table of contents online at barnes and noble, but have not been able to get the book.

Several books I searched say something like, "I can't hear you without my glasses." Meaning what you say isn't as important as your body language and THAT is what we really need to be aware of. Is it possible you remember "pair of glasses" but not how it was used?

I would go with that meaning. Switch it around so that the glasses are the important part of body language because of our non-verbal cues.
