Lexapro, Buspar and Xanax

If so, what was your experience with them and the effects on your baby? I'm not pregnant yet (I don't think) and am scared that I may not be able to be pregnant and take these meds at the same time. My doctors have said that I should be fine, but I would like to hear from real women that have taken these meds and been pregnant at the same time. Thanks!

Very funny u mentioned that because those are the 3 medications that I was and am now on. There is always a risk to the baby while taking medication, however discuss each one with your prescriber..I was told that Buspar and Lexapro are fairly safe but the Xanax is a little risky. I however had to take them all due to severe panic attacks, my son is now 11 and absolutely fine. I am not a doctor and am not telling you to take then while pregnant, I'm just letting you know what my Dr. said and my experience. Good Luck!

Lexapro is a pregnancy rating of Pregnancy Category C which means Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.

Buspar is Catgegory B which means Animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women OR Animal studies have shown an adverse effect, but adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus in any trimester.

Xanax is a category D which means There is positive evidence of human fetal risk based on adverse reaction data from investigational or marketing experience or studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.

So NO on the Xanax probably a No on the Lexapro and a maybe on the Buspar. Ask your doctor.

You should absolutely call your doctor ASAP. Do not go cold turkey on the medications until you are sure that you are pregnant. If you are not pregnant then you should talk to your doctor before you become pregnant to see what the effects of taking these pills on the baby would be.

The only drugs that have been approved for use during pregnancy are folic acid, vitamin B6, and some thyroid medications. Nothing else has been proven safe.

No drug is 100% safe to take while pregnant or nursing. If you can't live without this medication then you should seriously think about "Not becoming pregnant"

you can't take any of that when you are pregnant, especially buspar, that stuff is bad news for anybody. and no benzoiates when pregnant either. your baby will be slow and have a lot of problems, like seizures and stuff.
