Do you start at the first sign of spoting or when the actual flow starts? What if you miss the first day do you have to wait another month?

The first day of your period/actual flow... If you miss the first day or so, it isn't really a huge deal...just start now. Missing the first few days won't affect your chart too much. Try Fertilityfriend.com to help you chart and answer questions. It is a wonderful website and will even graph your temps for you!

yep to all of those that answered, I started right in the middle of my cycle however, but i ended up getting pregnant that cycle anyways so it didn;t matter much for me. It is ideal to start on the first day of your period, and make sure you take your temp at the same time every morning after you have been in rest for at least 3 or 4 hours, not even getting up to go to the bathroom before you do. Good Luck

You can start at any time. The first day of spotting is day 1 of your cycle. If you don't start charting on the first day just go to the next day but count it as day 2, not day one.
