Just wait. 36 weeks is still a little on the early side. I'm guessing the doctor meant if you went on your own now, they wouldn't stop it. Just be patient. The longer you're pregnant, the better it is for the baby.

Ok, momma was a labor and delivery nurse....so here goes.
If your cervix is "ripe" then have sex...the hitting of the penis on the end of the cervix along with the sperm will start labor. it may be akward with you being so pregnant, but try it while you're on top and can get the deepest penetration.
DO NOT USE CASTOR OIL....YOUR BABY WILL HAVE IT'S FIRST STOOL IN UTERO AND CAN CAUSE IT TO HAVE PNEUMONIA ON TOP OF ANY OTHER COMPLICATIONS.
I personally tried the sex thing and it worked.
Best advise on it would be to wait until you're at least 38 weeks into it, at 36 weeks, your baby could still have a lot of complcations and end up in the nicu.

Your baby will be born when he is ready! Nature has a way of knowing when the time is right, same as a baby chicken in a egg, Nature tells the chick when it's time to start pecking at the shell to get out. Trying home remedies could possibly cause harm to you and or your baby. Your doctor won't let you go too far past your due date then he can induce labor.

i just read about this today in babycenter magazine. the article says," Stimulating the nipples by breastpump or by hand can bring on labor. do it gradually so the contractions dont come too close together." they also suggested sex with orgasm by saying,"experts recommend u start heating up the sheets at about 38 weeks-and make it a habit-to see results. sex isn't a reliable trigger, but theres plenty of ancedotal evidence that it works.Semen is full of labor inducing prostaglandins, and orgasm helps bring on contractions."

why are you trying to put yourself to labor? The doctor will know when it is time. Do not take anything to induce your labor on your own. This will definitely harm your baby. talk to your doctors about your concerns. Instead of asking here. I'm afraid for you whoever you are. Take care and good luck.

Ive heard sex may induce labour but that might be just an old wise tale
Taking a long walk might help to
Ive also heard that milking ur breasts might induce labour ( which i dont believe)
Wouldnt it just be best to wait till he/she comes naturally
im sure by sitting in ur womb till you pop would be benifical in lung and brain growth and the risks of SIDS is reduced

Use an excersice ball. If you are ready then it will help. You can get them from walmart pretty cheap. Just sit on it and roll your hips around. It will put pressure on your cervix and help you dialate. I sat on mine while whatching tv.... Oh, and it can also help during labor.....Good Luck :)

Multiple orgasms can initiate labor contractions. I did that with my daughter. It is a natural and drug-free way to commence labor.
