I immigrated to America. I did it because in my country, I had to get up early to go to work. I had to work 9 hours a day and didn't make enough money to buy all the things I wanted. So now I get to sleep late, do whatever I want, and I get free money every month in the mail from the government. Its the kind of life I deserve! Thanks America!

We adopted a child from Colombia and went through the immigration process with her.

It was a lot of work but not all that difficult. The only butt-head at this [USA] end was one guy at CIS [used to be INS] and he mouthed off to my US Rep and is no longer working there.

We adopted her to give her a better life - choices, education, a good home instead of a government run orphanage [shabby place]. And, we really like her too.

Changing cultures from Colombia to USA, and even more so from orphanage to family has been occasionally overwhelming, but she certainly has not expressed the slightest desire to go back. The language thing has not been that difficult - she's picking English up at her own speed and the local middle school has been surprisingly supportive.

If you like, we did a blog of the experience and I can send you the address if you write me directly.

good luck with your project
