It depends on the style of song. Usually the most important thing is staying in key. Other bits of advice are not to over sing and to watch your pitch. If you're singing a slow song, sing softly. If you're singing a passionate sing, sing with emotion. Don't be afraid to try to hit high notes when you're practicing and don't be afraid of the sound of your own voice. The most important thing in my opinion is that you stay true to your own voice even if you think it's not commercial. Some of the most beautiful singers are imperfect.

opening your mouth which will let more sound out, deep breathes that use your diaphram
to check if you are breathing right lie on the floor a breath and watch your stomach, it should go up and down, then try to breath like that while you are singing. good breathing gives you support

You have to breathe through your diaphram.and make sure your tongue is behind your bottom teeth.
Sing scales in "AH" "EE" every day.
You larynx need excersise all the time with out straining it, and never sing through your nose the sond of words must come from your mouth, even if you have to exagerate the shape of your mouth.
Practice, practice practice.
