Sneha you are really a mirror image of new generation of both the countries. I m Indian & also think the same thing. If both the country unites they will bring the glory of Hindustan back , which has been lost years ago.
They have to spend less money on military. This is the first benefit. Their economy will also be improved because many resourses like cotton are in one country while their factories are in other country. So naturally they have not to import form foriegns.
However it is not as easy as you think to unite both the countries.
Because the politicans will not permit it if they don't receive any profit from that. Some stirct religious people will also make many obstacles in the process.
However if we are firm in our determination no one can stop us form this mission & one day we will the citizens of not India , not pakistan but of HINDUSTAN

I personally think it would be great for the two countries to merge. However, being practical, I really do not think that Muslims will be able to have any political power in the new set-up which will inevitably lead to frustration and confrontation. I think a better idea is that we should improve ties between the two countries not on a government level as is happening now but on a people-to-people level. This will help foster good relations where it matters...the hearts of the people. It will also allow us to make borders meaningless and provide all the benefits of a merger without actually having to do so.
I have had many Indian friends and have come to realize that animosity between the two people has been integrated by the education system. Whenever Indians and Pakistanis meet on neutral ground, I see them getting along well together. The question then comes to mind that if a majority is willing to get along and live in peace, who is stopping progress and for what reason. The minute people on both sides of the border get to the bottom of this, peace is imminent.
Another important factor towards peace is that India should try to refrain from attacking Pakistan in the media every chance they get. As was proved with the accusations of the ISI involvement in the Mumbai blasts, these accusations do nothing other than create bad blood and in fact this particular one bounced back for India hen they had to admit they did not have any proof despite their Prime Minister saying on multiple occassions that they did. Other than being an embarrassement, what do such instances do for any of the two countries?

I think unification is good. Because the communication under same nation will be greatly improved. Right now, it is disputed between two nations and you will feel the defensiveness between the two nations. If they unify, then there is a sense of blood is thicker than water. Under the same roof, there should be more room and openness for discussions.
I hope within my life time I would see the unification of N and S Korea. And the Taiwan the China.

No way, may be a bright idea but I'm totally against it. Being a Pakistani I know that both nations are different in all respects.
Hindus and Muslims are totally different from each other. The great leader of Pakistan while describing the same question said that we can think about the differences between the two nations with a simple example of a cow, Muslims slaughter it for their food and Hindus worship it.
So what do you think can they both live together, will hindus let Muslims to slaughter their god in front of their eyes?
Or will Muslims let Hindus to forbade them from slaughtering cow?
C'mon we're two different nations altogether, may be our culture resembles a bit but that doesn't mean that we're one. I openly admit that WE ARE TWO DIFFERENT NATIONS. And we can only prosper by living as individuals, your thought that we gonna prosper as one nation is flawed. The domination of Muslims on Hindus or vice versa will create a fuss in the merged state.
