why should it be parent's responsibility to teach children about things on tv that they see that should be censored rather than to censor those things out?

What should happen is we are able to block stations before they come to the tv. The tv industry does not want this because a lot of their garbage would never hit the tv.

If we censor, who holds the standards. This is the problem with censorship. I am a conservative and cannot stand the junk out there. If certain liberals are in charge of censoring, they would block Rush Limbaugh and other conservatives in talk radio.

I would rather turn it off than allow the government more control. It is bad enough with government schools.

There is a right age and a wrong age at which parents should teach their children about all the ugliness the world has to offer.
It is very easy to just cut children off from the outside world. But doing so just makes them more susceptible to the temptations out there.
Hopefully, most parents have the discriminative ability to teach their children right from wrong.
The raising of a child is, after all, the responsibility of the parents.
