focus on the comercialism and stress themselves out over it instead of celibrating the true meaning of Christ. Christmas can cost a lot of money and I don't think it was meant for that.

"Christmas" pre-dates Christianity. It is an ancient European winter festival. When Dec. 21 (or so) rolled around, it meant that the days would start to get longer. When Christianity began to spread across Europe, it was convenient for the conversions to allows the locals to keep the best of their festivals, and "splice" them with Christian beliefs.
All the history is there.
As for commericialism, yeah, it sucks, but you can choose to opt out. Tell all your familiy and friends that you don't want anything, and won't buy anything in return (or keep small, thoughtful gifts instead.)

I don't know except maybe they just save up all that energy all year and find an outlet for it. I am a believer and I celebrate Christmas as the day that represents when we all received the greatest gift, Jesus, Gods' own Son. But I have to admit, I do all the details. But I don't stress. I LOVE the buzz going on around me, the hustle and bustle. I would hope to think that most people don't stress out about it. But as for the 'commercialism', sometimes that is just part of it. It doesn't make it bad. Some people just wait all year for all this 'much ado'. It is part of the fun.
But, you are right, in all of that, let us remember what it is all about.......JESUS!

Christmas was just a doctrine of man... it is very unbiblical...

Accdg to the Bible.. We should REMEMBER Christ... through the Holy Supper.. the wine that symbolized the blood he shed and the bread that symbolized the his body he sacrificed all for salvation.... not through xmas carolings and xmas trees and santa claus... Since the bible teaches in very sad manner because it talks about death....Man changed it to something new... more fun and exciting..

Dec 25 was given as xmas.. when Egypt was still part of the Roman empire... The birth of the Egyptian God Ra, the sun god which gives light to all is Dec25. The birth of Christ, which also gives light to all was derived from the birth of the Egyptian God...

Christmas is very unbiblical and paganic if you would analyze...

If love is the reason 4 xmas...WEll as xtians, we can give love and peace and other values in any time of the day and year.. not just xmas...

only few people know about the history of xmas..

You are right! I think Christmas has gone way overboard on materialism. Kids try to outdo each other and the parents try to buy more than they can afford. so many families don't pay rent or other bills just to buy toys or gifts. The most important gift is stability in a home and making sure that Christ stays in Christmas!Let the meal be the gift to family and just get one or two small gifts to kids. Save big gifts for birthdays or graduations.go to church and celebrate Christ's birth and what He has done for us.

What do you think Christmas was meant for? It could not be to celebrate the birth of Christ. The customs, and even the Dec.25th date of Christmas, predate Christianity. It is a pagan holiday. If you don't believe me, do some research on Christmas and find out for yourself just how pagan it is.

Christmas should never be about commercialism to anyone. We have the "wonderful" department stores to thank for that. Honestly, the greatest gift for me is to be with family I only see 1 day out of the year.

because that is what society says they should do...picture this...a little boy and girl get a t-shirt and some candy on christmas morning...they go tell their friends...they are losers in everyones eyes( and the parents will be looked at as mean etc) say you tell your friends and family that you want to read the bible around the tree instead of presents...betcha they'll laugh...thats what it has turned into, but you can still keep the true spirit alive by watching movies or reading books to your kids and letting them know what the true meaning is...

most of us do reflect on christmas, its the corporations who would have you think otherwise. All I want for christmas is family a fire, and A christmas Carol on the Tv and I'm as happy as a clam

true-it is to be a season to celebrate a Savior's birth, by sharing our gifts(not presents) with those we meet and greet-sharing why He was born , and live like we mean it--should celebrate Christmas every day!
