Then I have to stop whatever I'm doing and get reconnected. IT IS DRIVING ME NUTS. hOW DO I PUT A STOP TO THIS??? PLEASE HELP.

Simple solution,disengage call waiting when you are on the computer. Go to your start up menu where you install your phone numbers to dial in,block your call waiting while you are on the computer. it is like a *78 or something like that..check with your phone company.
I assume you are using dial up ,this will solve the problem,my mother had the same problem until I told her what the problem was.

Sounds like you have a wireless connection. Your siganl strength may be the issue. Check your router location, avoid going through multiple walls.

are you on dial-up or adsl or what. If its dial up you have possibly a bad phone line
