what is on kenny rogers hand and what so bad about it (if it is) why is it what the commentators are talking about i mean how bad can it be?

if it was illegal shouldn'the like be out of the game or something but if it wasn't illegal why did he have to take it off??

who knows what it was but to me it looked like pine tar, but the reason it is such a big deal is that a guy at that level can use something like that to get extra break on his curve ball. That is why you see the umpires change balls so much. Even if it just hits the ground because a good pitcher can use a scuff mark on the ball to get extra break on his curve thereby giving him an unfair advantage. That is why when they are caught they are promptly ejected and probably fined.

They said he had an illegal substance on his hand or something like that. But he washed it off.

I did not see it but tuned in just as they mentioned that it had washed off. Iam really curious!

I think it was chalk. It would help him grip the ball better, especially in the cold.
