Actually O.N.E. You are wrong, just because a team is in the desert or deep south doesn't mean it will have bad ice if they have an Arena able to handle it (I should know this I live in Dallas and the first round of the playoffs are always in the 100's), also look at the PHOENIX Coyotes. The other point Vegas has a population in and around of over 1,000,000 people and is the fastest growing metropolis in the United States. All that being said I still say most sports leagues avoid it because of the association with organized crime and gambling. No sport wants a Pete Rose/Baseball scandal. Would it work? Logistically yes I think it would but there are too many what if variables that scare leagues from moving there.

Defintely, look @ Phoenix. Vegas is the fastest growing city in the country. These people are coming from the North and Midwest. Before the Coyotes there was very little hockey in the Valley. In the past ten years rinks have popped up everywhere and the high schools all have club teams. There is even a CHL team starting in Prescott this year. Vegas is very similar to Phoenix and would have no problem supporting it. Just get used to the fans rooting for the team where they grew up.

Absolutely not.

(a) Vegas is in the middle of a giant desert. As good as you may try, the ice will not be very good there.

(b) Nobody really lives in Vegas as people just go their as visitors. Hence, there is no guaranteed fan base. With the financial structure of the NHL, owners have to be convinced about the fan base.

No. They could not support the IHL team the Las Vegas Thunder. They have little support for the current hockey team the Wranglers. It is off the strip and it will not attract visitors. The locals do not want to go see hockey.

Seeing how it doesn't work in phoenix, I see no reason vegas would be any different. Nor do I think they should even have a team.

No, because anything that plays in Vegas stays in Vegas and then they can't play away games!

I think all the major sports leagues have stayed away from a LV team because of gambling.

Yes, they have indoor rinks. Vegas is good for sporting events.
