I have started working on my baby registry, but this is my first and I am really new at this. I was wondering if all you experienced moms and dads out there could give suggestions of things I should definately register for on my registry??? Thanks

You've received a lot of good suggestions...here are things that I would NOT register for: high chair, swing, Exersaucer, bassinet, stroller. These are all expensive items - some of the styles change every few months, and some of the items may not even mesh with your child's temperament. Why get a high chair now that your child won't even use until 6 or more months from now? And why spend up to $100 or more on a bassinet and accessories if your child may not even like it? Neither of mine did; what a waste of money! I also have a $120 Graco swing that was used about 50 times between two children and enjoyed less than half as many times. You're better off getting the core items, like furniture, car seat, clothes, diapers, feeding supplies, bathing supplies, inexpensive toys. From those closest to you, request gift cards. Then, when you and your child are ready for one of the above-items, test it out in the store, or borrow it from a friend, before buying it. Good luck!

I suggest looking at the checklist at babiesrus.com. They have a good checklist for things you will need. Many of them are ridiculous though so just pick out what you think will be good to have and then register for it. Also a baby bath is a waste of money the regular tub works fine. Just get a mesh thing (i dont know what they are called) until the baby can sit up alright by him/herself. Dont go overboard with it either bc first time mommies want everything. You can even put on their like little rattles and chew toys. I dont know if you have one in your area or not but there is a place called USA Baby (they have a website) and it is wonderful. You cant purchase anything off of the site yet but you could look and see if there is one around you somewhere. Another website to look at that gives you good articles about baby stuff and being a mommy is babyzone.com

If you have a shower any thing like mine I didn't register anywhere but walmart. When the invitations were sent though we wrote a similar yet different list on everyones invitation. Some ideas of items would be: diapers (they never go bad and if you get too many of one size you can always return them for the size you need), wipes, swing, bouncy seat, travel highchair, socks (lots of socks because they get lost in the washer/dryer), bibs, bottles, playpen, carrier (the best idea for a carrier is the one that has the highest weight limit), reciving blankets (need quiet a few of these), stroller, crib set that goes with your theme (if you have a theme for the nursery), bassinet the portable kind is best, bottle drying racks, boob pads, bath soaps, baby tub (the kind that will convert for a toddler will save you money), toys, highchair, diapercreme, baby medicine like gas drops or tylenol, and even vasaline if you are having a boy, clothes, and gift cards, or even cahs are all great items to possibly list on the invitations and register for. The best thing that you can buy or recieve is a snugli, the sling that you can carry the baby around with you on your chest, it is great for outing to the grocery store, park, and even to just get you houswork done. Mine was so worn out with my first child that I had to throw it away and I have to buy a new one with this baby. :) You will be overwhelmed with all the stuff you will get that you never even thought that you would need.

But make sure that when the baby is born that for at least the first month or two that people who hold your baby wash their hands very well before holding the baby. I plan on investing in a serious stock of germX to keep every where in my house. It's even great for those late night poop changes. On the go it is great too.

Good Luck and everything will come together very well for you!!

I am a mother of two and I have to tell you that Babies R Us is one of my favorite stores. I love baby products.

Some items that I really liked are:

Carter's Waterproof Lap Pads-wash really well, I used them on the changing table and I always carried them in my diaper bag. I also would use them when I would change my baby on the bed.

Strollers-I really really love my Maclren Volo and Techno XT and my Peg Perego.
Halo Sleep Sacks-these are great!

Medela Quick Clean, Micro-Steam Bags-Awesome. When I was registering another mother told me about these and she was right!

Dr. Brown's Bottles-my children never spit up!

Leapfrog Exersaucer-whichever you choose make sure that it has all plastic parts so that it's easy to clean. some have puppets or other softer material items attached that you can't remove to clean

bouncy chair

Baby Bjorn Active Carrier- this one has extra back support

Baby Einstein DVD collection-my children sit quiet and still for these!

Safety 1st Video Monitor-I didn't have a video monitor for my daughter and I always wished I had gotten one so when I had my little boy, I bought one! I love it. When he squeeks at night I can simply see on the monitor if he's really getting up or simply talking in his sleep.

I am throwing my baby shower in two weeks and i was foolish enough to buy alot of things myself... so what i suggest is buy the big expensive things unless your family has expressed interest in buying a bigger item
and when u have ur baby shower with ur girlfriends they can buy the
shampoos
lotions
nail clipper
thermometers
diapers
toys
receiving blankets, clothes
slings
walkie talkies ( baby monitors)
baby Einstein stuff
pacifiers
bottles / bottle brushes / liners / formula
gift certificates work great ( ones that don't expire )
socks / hats / mitts ( so they don't scratch themselves)

i also heard from somewhere that baby powder isn't that great anymore something to do with overy cancer later in life but theres liquid powder that works the same way but less cancer or something

you can always get relatives who can knit of crochet make u hats and blankets

Diapers, diapers, diapers .... in all different sizes.
Blankets, crib mattress pads, onsies (all different sizes).
I wouldn't go for the formula since you don't know which one your baby will be able to tolerate yet.
Room monitor, tub, thermometer (ear one - not the one that goes in the "no-no" spot), Mylacon (for gas), Motrin, books (it's always nice to read to your child and before you know it, your child is reading to you. The list goes on and on. You'll never be fully prepared, but as long as you have love, you will get through everything that is ahead of you. God Bless and good luck.

pacifiers, bottles, breast pump (if you plan to nurse), baby bedding, bibs, car seat, stroller, clothing, if you plan to decorate your nursery with a certain theme make sure the things you put on your registry go along with the theme like whinnie the pooh
just keep in mind that you'll need diapers and wipes, desitin, a&d ointment,
yes i put those little things on there bc then i got alot of it to go along with the outfits and all they bought me, saved me from having to buy it myself. i'd ask for anything you can use, you usually don't ask for the dressers and armiors andcribs or what not though

Sheets, burp clothes, diapers, wash clothes, diaper genie, sleepers, socks, infant tub, baby monitor, onesies, blankets, swing, bouncy seat, bath items. Hope this helps. Just pick some items that will help you as well. The bouncy seat to me was a miracle worker, I put my daughter in it and she was content while I tried to rest or clean.

I accept the idea of an afterlife, and have no God. I don't think that belief in Gods and an afterlife go hand in hand and cannot be separated. I'm quite happy believing that I will have one, without ever having troubled myself to have the other. Animist.
