The Igniting glow plug comes on,but then goes out after a few seconds. I put a meter to the sensor that sees the igniter.Acording to the book it apears to be good. It said it should have zero resistance, and it does. When the igniter goes out ,I can hear a click sound coming from the gas valve body. Does anyone know off hand what the problem might be? Is this a common problem with these dryers? I have seen this happen before.

There's a good chance that the igniter is no good, even though it appears to be glowing properly. These things are made of a ceramic material, with metal impregnated in it. They are made so that they will allow a certain voltage to pass thru when they get to a certain temp. throughout. That voltage causes the gas safety valve to open, which can't happen if the glowing portion has a small crack in it. That causes a high resistance point and won't let the proper voltage to pass. That's one possibility. The second one is that the coils on the top of the valve are faulty. Neither of these parts are terribly hard to replace. You will, however, need the model and make of the machine to take to the parts store to get the replacements.
