Well, there is really only one decent and truly logical reason that I can give you as a reason that is both plausible and succint to respond to the question as to why you should not smoke. While doing so, also satifying the need you have for me to make the answer as lengthy as possible. When you boil it down to the essence of smoking and all that is involved in the act of smoking, the effects and the repercussions of smoking, I submit to you the only reason that anyone with any level of intelligence would not ever, ever, ever, never, ever smoke. And that is.....
You are not on fire!

A protracted, ugly death. You reek. To a non-smoker, kissing a smoker is like licking out a dirty ashtray. The hacking, gross-sounding cough. The feel of the scum in your lungs shifting around. The damage your second-hand smoke does to others, especially your own kids. The effect of your protracted, ugly death on the ones who love you. Your house, your car, your clothes reek. You have to go out in inclement weather to smoke in many places. Lighting up can cause your oxygen tank to flare up and fry you. The butts you leave on the ground and along the hiways. Forest fires. The dead 2 year old who ate one of your discarded butts. Enough?

I'm sure that you know that it causes cancer, but beside that, before you get cancer, you will develop emphysema, it will make your skin feel like leather, it will make you smell bad, you will of course become an addict to it. There is also the disease that is called C.O.P.D., a nasty little disease that causes you to have bronchitis on a regular basis. Sports will be out, because you won't be able to run without wheezing, and kissing your partner will be awkward because they will tell you that you taste nasty. Is that long enough?

My mother smoked when she was pregnant. Thus, I had asthma at birth and weighed five lbs. I was born a month early. Now, my 2 kids have asthma. They used a breathing machine and inhalers. They still have problems well into their 20's.
When I was growing up, both my parents smoked. My mother had cancer but she is ok now. My Dad had cancer and he is on a feeding tube and has had radiation, surgery, and all for it. All because of cigarettes.
My mother's brother died in his fifties of cancer..he smoked cigarettes and cigars. My mother's uncle had cancer from smoking and has a larnyx box he uses to speak. He just developed prostrate cancer last week.
If you had to suction out the brown stained mucous from your Dad's throat in the hospital when he had his cancer surgery on his throat, you would never put a cigarette to your mouth.
When my mom stopped smoking after cancer diagnosis, she hated being around my dad smoking. She washed the walls and cabinets and everything else........they were covered in nicotine stains...and once you quit....or you don't smoke at all....that SMELL is horrible and yuck.
Don't smoke so you can avoid death for yourself, suffering for yourself...etc....Doctor bills and all. Also , don't smoke for the future of your children and their children. Don't you want to be around for many many years.

This won't be lengthy, but quick and to the point. I am not a smoker. I tried it once, when I was 8, and didn't like it. I am the only one in my family who doesn't smoke. I have lost 3 family menbers to cancer. 2 of them were younger than I when they died

Because the odds are one in three that it will kill you, and furthermore do so in a manner that is singularly unpleasant and painful. Would you play Russian roulette with two chambers loaded? Not only that, but you will offend anyone who smells your clothing, and give everyone reason to doubt your intelligence.

Because it can cause premature death. Smoking causes all kinds of easily preventable health problems. It can make your death very messy and painful. It costs a lot of money that can better be used for something else. It can drastically shorten your life. It causes debilitating disease. It causes you to appear to be aging prematurely. It can cut many productive years off of your life.
Oh, did I mention that it can kill you?

Because it makes your breath stink and is a real turn off for any girl. Another reason is that you pollute yourself and the air around you and that your habit will kill you.
