Forget about the price tag. My favorite gift has never been the most expensive one I received. Try to pick out or make something for each person that he/she will truly appreciate. My family has never spent much on gifts, but the care with which they are chosen makes them more valuable than the extravagant presents others give and receive with little more than disdain. If you can't pick out something special for an individual, you probably shouldn't be exchanging gifts.

I would say that the best way to save some money on gifts for those types of friends would be this: make a list of all of the people and something you have in common, like if you occasional go eat at a diner together, get them a small gift certificate there, or if you meet for coffee get them some gift certificates wherever you go...whatever you have in common with that person...get a gift that corresponds, so the value is more personal than monetary... like my boss loves to drink coffee...i dont spend alot on his gift, usually a dunkin donuts cool mug/thermos and $10 or $20 bucks to D&D's.... and like my sisters boyfriend...whenever i see him we are usually on a double date to the movies...so i always get him a card with 2 movie tickets in it($20 tops!) and its like the next date is on me....stuff like that....make it personal and you dont have to spend as much...hope i could help..=0)

present playing cards are large presents. I were given some when I were given married and that i develop into basically as chuffed as if I had received an incredibly latest. Plus, that's alot a lot less stressful to get a present card for someone you do not understand ok.

i've got it, flea market sunglasses... I know, it sounds cheap, and it is cheap, but it doesnt have to come off cheap, pick up a couple frame cases, like solid black ones.
speaking from personal experience, i'd be happy to have em. They look designer and i'd break or lose them before getting full use out of them, but thats what makes the already low price so effective. Besides, you sound awfully generous to be buying acquaintance a present to begin with. Just trying to help with a resourceful alternative to something fancy. hope it helps
good luck

I always bake a batch of cookies for people that I am not that close with as well as co-workers. It tends to be a lot cheaper that way!
