Ages ago, we used to have not only ashtrays, but beautiful crystal or china cigarette boxes on our coffee tables (candy dishes, too!).

...Please, no tedious lectures; this question is just for fun & general interest.

I remember the days when I had beautiful ashtrays in the house for smokers. Now I can't stand smoke, so I kindly ask people to step outside and smoke. Most people are fine with this.

I do not have to ask people to go outside my home to smoke. They know we do not smoke, so they go outside automatically. It is common sense. I remember the fancy ashtrays of the past. I also watched my mother die of lung cancer in my home. Tedious would be all the medication I take to breath. Fun and general interest? Would I allow anyone to smoke in my house? No!

Why is his bio mom happening your case approximately this? he's barely sixteen years previous. What the hell is he doing smoking in the 1st place, and who's paying for him the cigarettes? He can not smoke legally till he's eighteen. do no longer supply into him, stand your floor. tell him that it is not his abode and he has no perfect disrespecting what you and your husband could say. If he runs to his mom's abode, do no longer chase after him, in simple terms enable him run there. If he would not come abode after an afternoon or 2 then call the police and checklist him as a runaway on condition that your husband has custody of him. it quite is not suitable in case you comprehend the place he's or no longer. sturdy good fortune.

I do not smoke,it bothers my breathing, most that come to my house knows this already and automatically gets up and excuses them selves to go outside to smoke, depending on the weather, I may go out with them and stand or sit up wind. Theres no making them, or anything like that, but if someone new visits, I have found they are polite and ask if they are allowed to smoke indoors or should go out. I guess it also comes from simple pure Southern Manners.

When I used to smoke, I smoked in the kitchen an expected guests to aswell. It's a good compromise because people don't feel like they are being victimized if they go into the kitchen - all the fun happens in the kitchen anyhow!

I try to make sure they have a nice place to go and sit, but definitely outside. It's too hard to get the cigarette smell out of upholstery and clothing.

I used to smoke, and always went outside even at my own house, for the same reasons.

They smoke outside. It is just common courtesy.
But when I was growing up in the sixties and the seventies , my parents both smoked. They had the cute little ashtrays too.
My Dad made them in the navy....he put their initials on them.
They were silver.

I not only make them go outside, but I also ask them to go at least 3 meters downwind.
My friends who smoke know I would prefer if they did not smoke at all on my property, let alone in my house.

Well when my boyfriend quit smoking we had everyone go in the wash room or the porch. But now that I am trying to quit I think I'll have everyone go outside! If I can't smoke in my own house than no one else can either d*mn it! lol

If you smoke in your house, I say let them smoke too. If not, Ask them to step outside. A polite person would ask if you smoke in the house and if you tell them no they will most likely excuse themselves outside.
