Both, but your congressman is more in touch with your local area because he/she was elected to represent the congressional district in which you reside. Technically, if you are talking about government at the federal level, you have two senators and one representative. They are all congressmen because Congress consist of two branches, the Senate and the House of Representatives. It is common however to refer to your representative as Congressman/woman "so and so."

I have been writing both for years and it depends on the individual and it seems the longer they are in the less help you get. If they are up for re-election you will get a better responce. If you are are wealthy and like to donate big bucks you will get all kinds of help. Don't get your hopes up. I've had them tell me I was right but they had to compromise. So much for a truthful Politician.

it never hurts to write both! senators are usually better to get too!

definetly your senetor because then they can publisize it and then the govener will find out about it
