Convention - A get together of delegates to officially nominate a person to represent that party in a presidential election.

Delegate - A person sent to the convention. These people are usually selected by the state's party to attend. There are several delegates from each state, who cast a vote for a person to represent their party in a presidential election.

Political Platform - The official published view of a political party. In the platform, the party states exactly what their views are on major issues, and what they will do to correct them. Most candidates use this as a guide for getting elected.

Inauguration - The event that takes place in which a candidate is sworn into his/her elected office. When a person is elected president, he/she has power turned over on January 20, at the inauguration event (when a person is elected president, they don't immediately take power.)

Primary - the pre-election election. Held in summer, this election weeds out all the possible candidates, leaving only one from each party. this prevents several democrats, republicans, and other party's from all running for the White House at one time.

Incumbent - The person who is running for re-election. Since they already hold that office, and are running again, they are the incumbent.

Hope this helps.
