My son was forced to participate in this crime by an entrapper, and may get a permanent stay of proceedings. But if he does not get this he will have a serious criminal record. He wants to be a school teacher. Is this possible?

My younger brother is in prison and getting out in Feb after 5 years. I am going through a similar thought process/

First, regardless of the circumstances, it is unlikely anyone is going to take him seriously if he keeps up with the "I was forced" bit. Somewhere along the way it was his choice and his fault. Your son will get a much better reception if he faces the world with "I was a real idiot, I am very sorry and I have done X, Y and Z to make amends..."

If he started out, for example, teaching English as a second language to adults, he could probably be hired by a private firm (there are many such firms offering that service). Does he speak any other languages now? If not, he should learn Spanish while inside.

Otherwise, it will be very difficult to get a traditional teaching job teaching children. But if he stays clear of trouble and holds down a job teaching adults, he will be in a much, MUCH better position to ask that question again than he is now.

How was he forced? he probably cannot be a teacher, if his felony involved drugs or violence, which armed robbery does, but i do not know for sure. after he gets out of prison he could always force other to rob banks and he could manage the operation from the back less chance of getting caught. he has the experience , he could use the same tactics that were used on him
