Here is a few things to think about first . Do you have the time to take care of the dog ? Where do you live , do you have room for a dog ( small or large) they need room to exercise . Do you the money for Vet care ?
A puppy is like a baby and you have to be there to housebreak it ..
You could get a rescue dog , but sometimes they come with their own set of problems .
I'm not trying to talk you out of getting a dog , just telling you there are responsibility to owning a dog , you are responsible for the life ,care, training and health of that dog .
If you can do all that , then go make some dog happy and good luck .
Now a cat doesn't require that much care . Just give them a place to p**p and food and your good to go .

Although dogs are great company they are not the answer for loneliness. They are a big responsibility and to own a pet shouldn't be entered into lightly. There are a lot of costs to owning a pet, from the Vet to the food and the toys. And these are only a few of the costs associated with pet ownership. Might I suggest that you join some charitable organization, a church group,it will help you to get out and meet some new people. From then on its easy as pie, you can invite them over for dinner, tea, to watch a movie or go shopping just have fun and live your life to the fullest.

Dogs are good, but do not act in haste. A dog can be good company but require proper care. Check out different breeds to see what fits your life style best. It could be anything from a Chihuahua to a Great Dane. Then you have to decide if it should be a male or female. Do you want to start out with a puppy or a rescued adult dog. There is something for you to think about.
If you decide not to go with the dog idea, think about volunteering at your local human society. You get to work with dogs and meet people who like dogs too.

Only if you love dogs. There are many ways to be alone without being lonely. Hobbies, movies, helping out somebody but most of all, start volunteering and get out there with people. A dog does not take the place of people in your life.

Taking care of a dog is like taking care of a child. Are you ready for that responsibility? Dogs cant be left alone for long periods of time. So dont plan on taking any trips more than a day or two long unless you plan on taking the dog with you or finding a babysitter. But if you are ready to take on more responsibility than a dog would be great company!!

If you are lonely a dog will be a great friend, but you are kind of like a parent to pets.

If you have the time and money to care for a dog (play with it, feed it, walk it, keep it healthy) - then you should absolutely get one. Dogs are awesome! And if you want to do a good deed - you could rescue one from the pound. Remember - dog spelled backwards is God! And I am able to see God in dogs very easily! Hope that will be your experience!!
