A mixed fraction is a combination of a whole number and fraction.
to convert and improper fraction such as 15/4 to a mixed fraction:

15/4
4 divide 15 = 3 remainder 3.

The first 3 becomes the whole numberand the second 3 forms part of the fraction

15/4 = 3 3/4
